Letter from Executive Director

Mar. 24th:

Kidsports Community,

Office Closure

Given these unprecedented and uncertain circumstances, the Kidsports office will be closed to the public until May 1st. During this time we will be operating with an extremely small administrative staff who will look to help you through the soccer/lacrosse cancellation process and provide updates for the upcoming seasons of baseball/softball and our summer programs.

With limited staff and hours, the best way to reach us is by e-mail: [email protected]

Spring Lacrosse and K-12 Soccer seasons cancelled

Due to the extreme health and wellbeing concerns of our community amidst the COVID19 crisis, we have sadly had to cancel the 2020 KS Spring lacrosse and K-12 soccer season.

With the closure of our local schools until April 28th and the Governor’s Executive Order to “stay at home,” the health and wellbeing of our registrants, families, coaches, and staff becomes our first priority.

This is a first ever cancellation of a sports season for KS. We can’t tell you how sorry we are to have to cancel a spring of fun and play. The silent and empty fields will be truly deafening and disheartening.

This cancellation is unfortunate in many ways. One of the most challenging of these circumstances is the fact that forces completely out of our control, created an environment that did not allow the organization to provide services that we seasonally offer to our community. Despite best efforts to register participants, form teams, assign coaches, prepare and paint fields for example, a world pandemic of all things, has negated any chance for us to deliver further on these programs.

Truly, the cancellation of the spring season is not what anyone wanted, however, the cancellation is paramount to the health and safety of our community and organization.

We love the sound and sights of spring; coaches coaching and kids playing, developing, and having fun. Will we miss the sidelines with parents, guardians, siblings, and extended families, watching, socializing, and taking in the sun. And well, sometimes the rain. But this is what we do in Oregon; this is who we are.

Be safe, stay healthy, and stay tuned to our website for future programming updates.
